The Full Kitchen Remodel Timeline: Phase by Phase
Phase 1: Design & Selection (Weeks 1–3)
This phase begins with your free in-home consultation with Jose. He measures the space, assesses structural conditions, discusses your vision, and presents 3D design concepts. Once you approve the direction and move to the Design Package, detailed CAD drawings and a full itemized proposal are produced. During this phase you also visit our showroom to select cabinets (we carry 100+ styles), countertop material, tile, flooring, and fixtures.
Why this matters for timeline: Cabinet orders must be placed before demolition begins. Semi-custom cabinet lead times run 3–6 weeks. If you rush into demo before ordering, your project sits idle waiting for materials.
Phase 2: Permitting (Weeks 2–4, overlapping with material ordering)
As a licensed general contractor (CGC1535490), Tim Yaxley pulls all required permits for your project. In Palm Beach County, permit processing typically takes 1–3 weeks for residential kitchen projects. Structural, electrical, and plumbing permits are submitted simultaneously to minimize delay. This phase runs in parallel with cabinet manufacturing — no time is wasted.
Phase 3: Demolition (Day 1–3 of Construction)
Demo is fast. A full kitchen demo typically takes 1–2 days. Old cabinets, countertops, flooring, and fixtures are removed. Tim's crew handles demolition — they've been doing this in South Florida for 30 years and work efficiently without damaging surrounding structures.
Phase 4: Rough-In Work (Days 3–7)
Any plumbing reroutes, electrical upgrades, or structural modifications happen now while walls are open. This is also when flooring installation occurs if it's being done before cabinets (hardwood and tile typically install first; LVP often installs after cabinets).
Phase 5: Cabinet Installation (Days 7–12)
Cabinet installation is the most visually dramatic phase. For a standard kitchen, installation takes 2–4 days. Custom configuration, soffit work, and crown molding add time. After cabinets are set, appliances are rough-placed for fit verification.
Phase 6: Countertop Template & Fabrication (Days 12–17)
Once cabinets are fully installed, a countertop fabricator templates the exact cuts. Fabrication takes 3–7 days depending on material and shop schedule. Quartz is typically faster than natural stone. This is a period where other finish work (backsplash prep, painting, trim) occurs simultaneously.
Phase 7: Countertop Installation & Backsplash (Days 17–22)
Countertops install in one day. Backsplash tile installation follows immediately and takes 1–2 days for a standard kitchen. Grout cures overnight.
Phase 8: Final Finishes & Inspection (Days 22–21)
Plumbing fixtures connect, appliances install, lighting completes, hardware goes on cabinets, touch-up paint happens. The permit inspection is scheduled — inspectors verify all electrical and plumbing meets Florida code. Final walkthrough with Jose and Tim. Project complete.
What Can Delay a Kitchen Remodel
The most common delays in Palm Beach County kitchen remodels are: cabinet back-orders (avoid by ordering early), permit office backlogs (we submit electronically to minimize this), countertop fabrication lead times (book your fabricator when cabinets ship, not when they arrive), and homeowner change orders mid-project. Tim Yaxley's 30 years of South Florida construction experience means he anticipates and navigates these issues routinely.
Why Our 3-Week Minimum Is Real
Most contractors quote 6–10 weeks because they're managing 15 projects simultaneously with a large crew spread thin. We run a focused operation: Tim manages your project personally from day one of demo through final walkthrough. Materials are pre-staged. Subcontractors are scheduled before demo starts, not called the day before. This is how we deliver a complete kitchen in 3 weeks minimum.
