Step 1: Choose Your Cabinet Tier
There are three tiers of kitchen cabinetry, and the right choice depends on your budget, timeline, and how specific your spatial requirements are.
Stock Cabinets are pre-built in standard sizes (typically 3-inch increments) and available immediately from home improvement stores. They're the most affordable option but offer limited sizes, finishes, and configurations. Filler strips are required to fill gaps where standard sizes don't fit. For a budget refresh or rental property, stock works. For your primary home in Palm Beach County, we generally recommend stepping up.
Semi-Custom Cabinets are built to order in more flexible size increments (usually 1.5-inch steps), with significantly more finish, door style, interior accessory, and configuration options. Lead time is 3β6 weeks after order. This is our most recommended tier for the majority of our clients β it provides a truly custom look at a substantially lower cost than full custom. Our 100+ showroom styles are all semi-custom.
Full Custom Cabinets are built exactly to your space dimensions and specifications. No standard sizes, no filler strips. Highest cost, longest lead time (8β14 weeks), but they fit the space perfectly and can execute any design vision. We recommend full custom for unusual layouts, high-end design-forward kitchens, or where cabinet depth or height needs to deviate significantly from standard.
Step 2: Insist on All-Plywood Box Construction
This is the single most important technical specification in Florida, and most homeowners don't know to ask for it. Cabinet boxes are built from one of two materials: solid plywood or particleboard (also called MDF or wood composite).
In South Florida's humidity β even in air-conditioned homes β particleboard cabinet boxes absorb moisture from dishwashers, under-sink plumbing, and ambient air. Over years, particleboard swells, delaminates, and fails at the screw points, causing doors to sag and drawers to stick. Plywood is dimensionally stable, holds screws firmly, resists moisture, and lasts decades longer.
Every cabinet we specify at Best Price Kitchen Bath & Floors uses all-plywood box construction. If a contractor quotes you cabinets without specifying "all-plywood box," ask directly. If the answer is particleboard or MDF, factor that into your cost comparison.
Step 3: Choose Your Door Style
Door style defines the visual character of your kitchen. The most popular styles in Palm Beach County's luxury communities right now are shaker (classic recessed panel, works with any design direction), flat front / slab (modern, very popular in newer construction upgrades in Valencia Grand and Lotus communities), raised panel (traditional, common in older Boca Raton and Wellington homes), and beadboard (coastal cottage, popular in Delray Beach and Lantana).
Our showroom carries 100+ door styles across all these categories. We strongly recommend seeing them in person before deciding β photos don't convey the texture and depth accurately.
Step 4: Choose Your Finish
In 2026, the most requested finishes in Palm Beach County are: white (classic, maximizes perceived space), off-white or cream (warmer, very popular in 55+ communities), greige or warm gray (transitional, works with quartz and granite), navy or deep blue (accent island color, big in new construction upgrades), and natural wood tones β particularly white oak and walnut for a contemporary warm look.
Two-tone kitchens β one color for uppers, one for lowers or island β are standard in our mid-range and high-end projects now.
Step 5: Visit Our Showroom
The most important step is seeing and touching the options in person. Our showroom at Canyon Town Center (8794 Boynton Beach Blvd Suite 112, Boynton Beach) is where our Design Consultant Janet Yaxley helps you bring your vision to life. Bring photos of kitchens you love, your countertop ideas, and any flooring you're considering β selections work best when designed together.
